About The Art Show
Star Wars Celebration will feature exclusive, limited edition art by official Lucasfilm Star Wars artists. Always a highlight for fans, the Celebration Art Show will showcase some of the best artistic talent in the world turning the pens and pencils to the galaxy far, far away!
Want To Apply For The Celebration Art Show?
At each Celebration, we receive far more submissions from qualified artists than its Art Show is able to include. Because of this, we have instituted a two-step selection process, detailed below. All artists must go through this process, even if they have participated in previous Celebration Art Shows. Participation in previous shows is not a guarantee of being accepted to this show, and no artists are grandfathered in.
In order to be eligible to participate in the Art Show at Star Wars Celebration in in 2015, you must have previously created Star Wars art for an official Lucasfilm licensee. Officially licensed art includes art for sketch cards, comics, posters, and other art that was commissioned by an official Lucasfilm licensee. Fan art and personal commissions do not count as officially licensed art and will not be accepted for consideration. There will be no exceptions to this requirement.
The Submission Period
The submission period runs from May 5, 2014 to July 21, 2014. Please submit 3-5 examples of your artwork along with a brief summary of your experience creating artwork for Lucasfilm licensees. If you have a link to an online portfolio of your work, please submit that as well.
Submit all of this information to CelebrationArtShow@lucasfilm.com.
Celebration will evaluate all submissions we receive and select those to be invited to move forward on August 4, 2014. All artists, whether they have been selected to proceed or not, will receive an update as to their status on this date.
Artists who are selected to move to the next round will be asked to submit one or two concepts for their piece for the Art Show by October 6, 2014. We will review all submitted concepts and notify all artists who are part of this second round if they have been selected or not to appear in the Art Show on October 20, 2014. Final art from accepted artists is due January 19, 2015.
Celebration strictly adheres to all deadlines. Any artist not meeting the deadlines for the show will be eliminated from participating.
Artists who are selected to participate in the Celebration Art Show will be offered the opportunity to purchase a table in the Art Show area at Star Wars Celebration. Art Show details and specifics will be made available to artists who are selected.
